Setting Up Your League
myfantasyleague.com easily allows you to set up your own league on-line. Simply follow the instructions that were emailed to you when you ordered your league.
Once you complete these four steps below, you'll have your own league web
page in minutes!
-
Step 1 - General League Setup The first
step of setting up your league with myfantasyleague.com involves setting these parameters:

-
Commissioner Password - to prevent unauthorized access to your league,
you should select a password. Make sure that the password conforms to some
basic password guidelines.
Important Note: You should not share your commissioner password
with other owners in your league. If they were to use the commissioner password,
they would be able to make any change to any team they would like - probably
not what you want to happen!
-
Confirm Password - You must type in the franchise password again
for confirmation purposes.
-
Commissioner Email Address - You must enter your email address here.
Don't forget to include the whole address (ex. username@domain.com). If

match ups between franchises each week. Check "Doubleheaders" if each franchise
plays two head-to-head matchups each week. Otherwise, check no.
-
Number of Rosters Each Player/Team can be on - Some larger leagues

the talent pool isn't so thin. If your league allows this, enter the appropriate

a franchise owner must submit an additional player who is a non-starter
each week to resolve ties.
- Decided by any selected player if your league requires that
a franchise owner must submit any additional player (either starter or
non-starter) each week to resolve ties.
- Commissioner will manually break ties if your league has other
rules regarding how ties are broken. The break ties
option on your league home page allows you to manually break ties.

order you would like to have your league standings report on your league
home page displayed by - overall winning percentage, divisional winning percentage or overall total points.

Select A Conference - If during step 1 you indicated that you have more
than one conference in your league, you must indicate which conference
each division is in.
- Automatic Scheduling Options - myfantasyleague.com has over 30
league schedules for common league sizes. If you see a schedule that you'd
like to use, select it here. If there is not an automatic scheduling option
for your league, please send email to support@myfantasyleague.com indicating how your league is set up, and we'll
consider adding an automatic scheduling option for your league configuration.
You may also use the set head-to-head option
on your league home page to manually set up head-to-head schedules. Many
thanks to Brenden Schaaf, whose site at http://www.hairshirt.com/schedules/ was
essential in setting up automatic scheduling for myfantasyleague.com.
- Default Scoring Options - myfantasyleague.com has several
scoring systems you can choose from, or you can use our PC-based setup tool (found on our main page) to fully create a customized set of scoring rules for your league.
- As Soon As Preliminary (Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) Results Are Available: -
To automatically have all league scores calculated, lineups resolved for
owners who did not submit lineups, and email sent out to franchise owners
notifying them of their preliminary scores, select one or more of these
options.
- As Soon As Final (Monday) Results Are Available: -
To automatically have all league scores calculated, lineups resolved for
owners who did not submit lineups, and email sent out to franchise owners
notifying them of their final weekly scores, select one or more of these
options.
- Additional League Rules: - this field allows you to enter any
additional league rules you would like. It is a "free format" text field,
so any rules you type in here will not be automatically enforced by the
system. This is just meant as a way for everyone in your league to be reminded
of other league rules on the league rules report.
You can use HTML in this field for formatting purposes.
-
Step 4 - League Setup Completed
Now you have completed your league setup! Wasn't that painless? Seriously,
there are a few more things to consider here:
-
On-Line Drafting - If this is the first time that you have gone
through the league setup steps for your league, myfantasyleague.com will automatically
set up your league for on-line drafting. It randomly assigns each team
a first round pick order. Each round after the first round will be in reverse
order of the previous round. The total number of rounds in the draft will
be number of roster spots that you entered in step
1. This type of draft is typically called a serpentine or S draft.
If you'd like to use the on-line draft feature, but don't want to do it
the default way that myfantasyleague.com has set up for you, select the set draft order option on your league home page
to see more draft options.
If you choose to hold your draft on-line, you may choose to
do it one of two ways.
Live Draft - if you choose to draft this way, your league
will be able to use a chat room type environment, where all
picks, as well as any message that anyone types, will be posted
to a web page that all owners can read. If you choose to draft
this way, you can still
use the pre-draft feature if someone needs
to walk away from their computer for a few minutes. Important note:
Any picks that are made from the "live draft" chat room are not
automatically emailed to everyone in the league.
- Draft Over Several Days or Weeks -
myfantasyleague.com can automatically send email
to all registered franchise owners when each draft pick occurs. If your
league chooses to draft on-line like this, it is recommended that all
franchise owners are registered to receive email, and you take
advantage of the pre-draft feature.
- On-line auction - myfantasyleague.com is proud to be the
first and only customized league management system that allows on-line
fantasy football auctions! Compete with other francise owners to bid
on fantasy players in order to populate your team's roster. The entire
process is handled via the Internet in real-time!
-
Off-Line Drafting - If your league has already conducted its draft,
or just chooses to not conduct it's draft on-line, it is the responsibility
of the league commissioner to set up initial league rosters. The
commissioner does this by choosing the load rosters option
for a franchise, and selecting all of the players and teams that are
on that franchise. This process should then be repeated for all franchises.
If you're not sure how to pick multiple players or teams from the free
agent list, the FAQ will tell you how.
-
League Scoring System - To have your customized scoring system for
your league, we'd prefer that you use our PC-based setup tool (found on our main page)
to define your league's scoring rules. If you are upgrading from last season and only have a few changes,
you can send an email to support@myfantasyleague.com
describing only the specific changes needed. Please be as specific as possible and send this email message as plain text rather than in a word processing
file format. Make sure to include
your league name in this email message! Please, save our time and yours
- only do this if you have actually registered for myfantasyleague.com. Registration
information is available at
http://www.myfantasyleague.com/purchase.html.
-
Franchise Setup - You should now proceed to your league home page
and then onto the franchise setup step.
Defining League Transaction Rules
The "Transaction Setup" page allows you to further clarify your league
rules regarding it's lineup submission deadline, waiver options, trade options
and injury reserve options. Note that these options will only be displayed
if you have chosen the appropriate "Allow Franchise Owners With Password Access To" option on league setup step 2. For example, if you did not check
the "Submit Lineups" option on league setup step 2, there will be no
lineup submission deadline options displayed on the Transaction Setup page.
To define your league transaction rules, follow these steps:
-
From the league home page, select the Transactions Setup Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- Choose the appropriate options below:
- Lineup Submission Deadline - If during step 2 you indicated that
franchise owners are allowed to submit lineups using myfantasyleague.com, you
can specify what the deadline should be for submitting lineups. Note:
If your deadline is sometime before kickoff, you will need complete
the league setup steps again to change
your deadline for weeks that have Thursday night games. For example,
assume that you initially have a deadline of Friday at 5PM EST. Once you
get to the weeks that have Thursday night games, myfantasyleague.com will try to
look for the Friday at 5PM that is prior to kickoff of that
week, which will work out to be the Friday before the week 6
games. The bottom line is that if you choose a deadline other than
kickoff, you'll need to adjust this deadline throughout the season (use the Transactions Setup option).
- Weekly Waivers Deadline - If during step 2 you indicated
that franchise owners are allowed to perform waivers on-line, you
can allow league waivers to be handled one of two ways:
- Some leagues allow any waiver to occur at any time.
Those leagues should select the None - First Come, First Served
option.
- Other leagues have a weekly waiver deadline where the
owner with the lowest point total gets to pick first, then the
next lowest point total, etc., until all owners have completed their waivers.
Leagues set up like this should select the day of the week and
time when the weekly deadline occurs. Owners will then only be able to
submit their weekly waiver picks up until the weekly deadline. After each
weekly deadline has passed, it is the responsibility of the league commissioner
to select the process waivers option to
perform the weekly waiver wire.
If your league handles waivers in a way other than the above two options,
you should not allow franchise owners to perform waivers. You should
process all waiver moves yourself.
Important Point! Using the commissioner password on
your league home page allows you to immediately add/drop any
player you wish, without going through the normal queueing of picks
described above. If you wish to act as an owner, and queue up your picks,
use your franchise password on the league home page rather than the commissioner
password.
- End Of Season Transaction Deadline - If during step 2 you indicated
that franchise owners are allowed to perform waivers or trades on-line, you
can set a deadline for when those transactions should no longer be allowed,
to prevent lop-sided transactions at the end of the season.
- Press the "Save Transaction Setup" button at the bottom of the page.
- You will then see a confirmation page confirming your transaction setup
options.
Update League Home Page Message
Your league home page can be customized with a message. That message can
say anything that you'd like it to say, and can include HTML. Some suggestions
for a home page message:
-
Lineups are due early this week due to the Thanksgiving Day games
-
The Phoenix Firestorm are running away with the league!
-
Elf Boys choke in week 14 and miss playoffs
To update the league home page message, follow these steps:
-
From the league home page, select the Home Page Msg Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
-
Type in whatever message you'd like to appear on the home page. This message
can contain HTML.
-
Press the Update Message button.
Important! Do not use the league home page message to notify
owners of their passwords! Anyone (not just people in your league) can
read this message, and take control of a team in your league if you post
passwords here. Instead, you should consider using the
password reminder function to automatically email
all owners in your league their passwords.

Set Up Head-to-Head Matchups
If your league has weekly head to head match ups, and myfantasyleague.com
did not have an automatic schedule for your league, the commissioner can
set them up for each week by following these steps:
-
From the league home page, select the Set Head-to-Head Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
-
Select the week of the NFL season that you're setting head-to-head match
ups for.
-
Select each pair of head-to-head match ups.
-
Press the Save Matchups button.
During your league's playoffs, myfantasyleague.com can accommodate teams the are no
longer playing by selecting the -- Bye Week -- option from the team
list for each team that does not play in a given week.
Some leagues choose to have head-to-head matchups with an odd number
of franchises, which leaves an extra franchise each week without an
opponent. This extra franchise can either have a bye, by selecting the
-- Bye Week -- option, or by competing against the
average score of all teams by selecting the -- Average --
option.
If you'd like, you can set up all of the weekly head-to-head match ups
all at once at the beginning of the season, and not have to return to this
page until playoff time.
If you're at a loss for how to set up your league head-to-head
schedule, Brenden Schaaf has created some really
helpful web pages at http://www.visi.com/~bschaaf/schedules/index.html that show some head-to-head
schedules for many common league sizes.
Calculating Weekly Results
Calculating weekly results for a league involves the following
steps.
-
From the league home page, select the Calculate Results Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
-
Select the week of the NFL season that you're calculating results for
-
If not all league members have submitted starting lineups for the week
in question, you may want to check the Use previous week's starters for teams with no starting lineup option.
- Press the Calculate Results button.
You should calculate weekly results under the following circumstances:
- Sometime after 2am EST Sunday night to get preliminary league results.
- Sometime after 2am EST Monday night to get the final weekly results.
- Any time a league scoring system has changed.
A message will appear on the Calculate Results page indicating the
time that stats were made available each week.
When you press the "Calculate Results" button for a given week,
the head-to-head wins and losses are updated on your league home page.
These results should be considered preliminary until the Monday night game
statistics are issued. Some franchise owners might find this confusing that
they are awarded a win or a loss even before the week is over.
You can avoid this by simply not pressing the "Calculate Results" button.
Even before pressing the "Calculate Results" button, your "Weekly Results"
(as well as the "Top Performers" report) will show the points of all
players that have already played, as well as a preliminary point total
for each franchise. Then, on Monday night or Tuesday morning, you can
press the "Calculate Results" button and have league standings on your
home page updated appropriately.
Note that the "Weekly Results" and the "Top Performers" report are
typically updated sometime between 12:30 and 2:00AM EST on Sunday nights
and Monday nights.
Delete Transactions
Both the Transactions and the Franchise Info reports contain
a log of all transactions performed over the course of the season. A commissioner
may want to remove these transactions for one of the following reasons:
- Any associated league specified transactions fees have been paid or just
don't apply, and you'd like to exclude these transactions from the fees
due.
- The list is simply getting too long and you don't need to know the history
of all transactions.
Note that deleting transactions will only delete the transactions from
the above two reports, it will not "undo" the associated transactions.
To delete transactions, follow these steps:
-
From the league home page, select the Delete Transactions Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- On the next page, check the transactions that you'd like to delete.
- Press the Delete Transactions button.
- On the next page, you will receive a confirmation of the number of
transactions you've deleted.
Score Adjuster
myfantasyleague.com can automatically and accurately score the vast majority
of leagues. Occasionally, a league might award points for an obscure event
that myfantasyleague.com does not know how to award points for.
If your league scoring rules cannot be fully implemented in myfantasyleague.com, you may
still accurately record weekly scores by manually adjusting them. You may
do this by the following steps:
-
From the league home page, select the Score Adjuster Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- From the Score Adjuster page, type in the the number of points you
would like to adjust the score by. Make sure to enter a minus (-) sign
before the score if you need to subtract points.
- Select the week that the score adjustment should apply to.
- Type in an explanation as to why the adjustment was necessary.
- Repeat the above three steps for all teams that need to have their
score adjusted.
- Press the Adjust Scores button to save these score adjustments.
- On the next screen you will receive a confirmation of the saved score adjustments.
- The standings report and the weekly report
will now reflect this adjusted score.
Some Important Notes Regarding the Score Adjuster
The Score Adjuster should only be used if your scoring system
has aspects to it that you've explicitly been told by us that myfantasyleague.com
cannot handle. For example, myfantasyleague.com cannot currently award points based
on home field advantage - therefore, you will need to use the Score Adjuster
to manually add points for home field advantage. You should not use
the Score Adjuster to:
- account for myfantasyleague.com generating what you think is incorrect scoring
for your league rules
- a missing/incorrect statistic such as the wrong number of missed
field goals.
- account for a missing scoring rule that you have not been told
cannot be handled by myfantasyleague.com.
- Any reason other than myfantasyleague.com not being able to handle your scoring system.
If you do use the Score Adjuster for the wrong reasons, you are only masking
the problem. If you have any doubts, please send us
email and we'll help
you decide if the Score Adjuster is what you need to use or not.
Load Rosters
If your league chooses to conduct it's draft or auction off-line,
this option will allow you to load the initial rosters for all
franchises at the beginning of the season. To load rosters:
- From the league home page, select the Load Rosters Option under the
For Commissioners heading.
- Select the franchise you are loading rosters for.
- Type in the commissioner password.
- Press the Go! button.
- In the section titled Select Players/Teams To Add, select the players
and teams that you would like to add to your roster.
If you're having trouble figuring out how to select multiple players from
the free agent list, a little help is available
below. If you're running Microsoft Internet Explorer, and you can't figure out how to have the first team or player not selected, some help is available here.
- Press the Load Rosters button.
- On the next page you will receive a confirmation of the players
added to the roster.
Processing Waivers
If during league setup step 2 you allowed
franchises the ability to perform waviers, you'll see the Transactions Setup
option under the 'For Commissioners' heading. From this option, if you
specified that waivers have a weekly deadline, the Process Waivers option
will be present on your
league home page. This option allows you to automatically process all
waiver picks franchise owners in your league have previously submitted.
To process the weekly waiver wire, follow these steps:
-
From the league home page, select the Process Waivers Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- From the Process Waivers page, the teams will be listed
in reverse order of year-to-date points. Every team that has made a selection
will have their selected drop and add listed. You may adjust the default
selections, or leave them alone.
- Press the Process Waivers button.
- On the next web page, you will receive a confirmation of all waiver moves.
- All franchise owners in your league who have registered to receive email
will automatically get a message indicating all moves made.
- The transactions report will be updated to
include these waiver moves.
Accounting
This option allows you to track league fees. For example, if your league
charges an entry fee at the beginning of the season, and then additional
money throughout the season, you can use this option to track the amount
of money each owner has paid, and how much they still owe.
To track league fees:
-
From the league home page, select the Accounting Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
-
League Fee Per Player Acquired In Waiver - If your league charges franchise owners
for each waiver move they do, enter the cost per player acquired via a waiver move
here. You can enter it in the format $1.00. If your league does not charge
per waiver, leave this field blank.
-
League Fee Per Player Acquired In Trade - If your league charges franchise owners
for each trade they do, enter the cost per player acquired via trade
here. You can enter it in the format $1.00. If your league does not charge
per trade, leave this field blank.
-
League Fee Per Injured Reserve Move - If your league charges franchise owners
for each IR move they do, enter the cost per move
here. You can enter it in the format $1.00. If your league does not charge
per IR, leave this field blank.
-
For each franchise, you may enter one debit or credit, as well as
an explanation for that debit/credit. For example, you could enter
a debit of $50.00 for each owner at the beginning of the season to
reflect a $50.00 league fee due, and then as each owner pays their
league fee, you can return to the Accounting page to enter a $50.00
credit for that owner.
- Next press the Update Accounting option to save this information.
- The franchise information report will be updated to reflect these new fees owed or paid.
Appearance
The appearance option allows you to control things like page colors,
some footer section items, banner ads, and other display items on your league
pages.
To set the various appearance options, do the following:
-
From the league home page, select the Appearance Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- From the Appearance page you can:
- Specify web site addresses for various things on your pages, like:
- A league home page you might have on another web site. This will create
a link from the title of all myfantasyleague.com pages to any web site you
specify.
- League logo URL will allow you to specify the URL of your league logo to be
included at the top of all league web pages. You can specify a logo on another
web server, or you can use on of our logos displayed on
this page.
Alternatively, if your league logo is less than 30 kilobytes in size,
you may upload it to our web server via the "Upload Logo File:" option following
these instructions:
- Create the logo, and save it in GIF or JPEG format. The logo must
be less than 30 kilobytes in size to be uploaded.
- Press the Browse... button to the right of the "Upload
Logo File" type-in box. If you do not see the Browse... button,
that means you are running a web browser incapable of uploading
a logo file. You should consider upgrading to a newer browser that
supports file uploading.
- Find the logo on your hard drive.
- Press the OK or Open button once you've located the file.
- This will upload your logo to our web server.
- You can give all of your league pages a common background by specifying
a URL for a background image. Again, you can choose from one of our backgrounds
at this page. All backgrounds must be in JPG or
GIF format.
- Your league home page can even have a custom audio clip on it! To activate
this feature, just specify the URL for a wav file, and each time an
owner visits your league home page, this wav file will play. Please note
that the audio file MUST be in the wav format!
- Include a banner ad on all league pages by specifying the image URL and click-through destination URL (make sure to include the entire URL for each). This
banner ad will appear on the top of all league pages. You might want to include
a banner from LinkExchange, for example, to get credits for all league page views
you have.
- Eliminate the Fantasy and/or NFL sections from the bottom
of all league pages. Some commissioners feel that this information just makes
things too easy for lazy owners!
- Eliminate the NFL Injury Status and/or Upcoming NFL schedule
information from the Top Performers and Submit Lineups pages.
Again, this information just makes things too easy for lazy owners!
- Eliminate the Top Performers report altogether - only if you're
a die-hard league!
- Specify the number of decimal places for league scoring - 0 if you only
score down to whole numbers, 1 if you score down to 1/10th of a point, and
2 if you score down to 1/100th of a point.
- Indicate what time zone your league is in, and all times mentioned
on all league pages will be displayed in your local time zone.
- Include (or exclude) things like league standings, last week's results,
next weeks games, last update time
for the league message board, draft status, and other league news.
- Specify the number of days that the "new" icon should be displayed
next to new messages on the message board.
- Set document colors. You have control over nine document characteristics,
and each characteristic can be set to one of 24 different colors.
- Set document fonts. You can choose from 9 different fonts, and 9 different
font sizes, for a total of 81 different page appearances!
The document characteristics are: background color, text color, header text color, injury status color, table header color, every other table row color, active link color, un-visited link color, and visited link color.
Keep in mind that certain color combinations will make myfantasyleague.com pages
unreadable, or nearly so. For example, a dark colored background with dark colored text will always be a bad idea!
- A text applet can be included on all league pages, or just the league
home page. Several options for how the text is scrolled are available,
and you can type in any text you would like to appear in the applet.
- One of 20 icons can be associated with any team on the league standings report.
Once you set all of the appearance settings on this page, press the
Save Appearance Information button at the bottom of the page
to be sure that all appearance settings are saved!
Break Ties
If your league is set up to allow the commissioner to manually break
ties, this option needs to be selected to actually break any ties that
may occur. To accomplish this:
-
From the league home page, select the Break Ties Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- All tie games will be displayed for you to review. You can
then select the winner of the tie game, along with an explanation of
why that team was declared the winner.
- Press the Break Ties button. You will then receive confirmation
of the broken ties on the following page.
- The weekly results report will be updated
to reflect this new result.
Draft Setup
If you choose to draft on-line, but do not want to use the default
draft order myfantasyleague.com generated for you, you can over-ride it
by the following steps:
-
From the league home page, select the Draft Setup Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- You will then be able to manually set the order of the first round of
the draft, and then select the number of total rounds in your draft, as well
as the draft type (S-draft, or random for each round).
- Press the Set Draft Order button. You will then get confirmation on
the following screen of your draft order.
- If you want to set a draft order other than one of the above ways, please
send email to support@myfantasyleague.com describing how you would like to conduct your draft, and we'll try
to accommodate your needs.
In addition, the Draft Setup option also allows you to back your
draft up to any prior pick that you'd like in case an incorrect pick is made
during the course of the draft.
Once your draft has started, the Set Draft Order section will be
removed, and in it's place will be a Revert Draft section. This
Revert Draft option will allow the league commissioner to "back up"
the draft to any round/pick he would like to. This feature is useful
for leagues who want to start with a little "test" draft, or if any owner
makes an incorrect pick that you would like to fix.
The bottom of this page has a section titled Draft Timer which
allows you to set a timer on each draft pick. If the time has been exceeded
myfantasyleague.com will automatically skip that person's draft pick.
Auction Setup
If 'On-line auction' has been enabled from page #2 of League Setup,
the Auction Setup option will appear under the commissioner options.
This screen will allow the commissioner to define initial auction parameters
and remove existing/competed auctions.
-
From the league home page, select the Auction Setup Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- From the Auction Setup page you can:
- Specify various auction Setup parameters such as:
- The Minimum Opening Bid amount required to place any player up for
auction.
- The Mimimum Bid Raise or the increase between bids for any
auctioned player.
- The Auction Funds Available to Each Franchise to use to bid on all
auctioned players.
- The time that the auction for a player will end (xx days after the last
bid was made or the auction started for a player)
- Remove any auction currently in process or completed. Just click on the
checkbox adjacent to the auctioned player.
- Click on the Save Auction Setup button.
Defining Player Salaries
If 'Track Player Salaries' has been enabled from page #1 of League Setup,
the Set Salaries option will appear.
-
From the league home page, select the Set Salaries Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- From the Set Salaries page you can define a salary (without commas)
for each player.
- Click on the Save Salary Information button when you have
finished entering all your salary information.
Review Trades
If during league setup step #3 you indicated that all trades need to be
approved by the commissioner, complete the following steps:
-
From the league home page, select the Review Trades Option
under the For Commissioners heading.
-
Type in the commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- You will then be displayed a list of trades that are pending. Mark
the trades you would like to approve or reject, and then press the
Approve or Reject trade button at the bottom of the page.
- You will then be shown a confirmation of all trades approved
or rejected on the following screen, email notifcations will be sent
out, and the transaction history report will be updated.
Drafting
If your league chooses to conduct its draft on-line, the draft is the first
step after you have set up your league and franchises. As explained in
step 4 of the league setup, the default draft
is a serpentine or S draft.
A draft may be set up to run over several days or weeks, or, it may be set
up to run "live" in a chat room type environment.
If your league is
set up to draft over several days or weeks, each owner can perform the
following steps to make a pick:
-
From the league home page, select the Draft Option under the For Owners
heading.
-
Select the franchise you are drafting for.
-
Type in the franchise or commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
-
If it's your turn to pick, you will see a message indicating that. Otherwise,
you will see a message indicating that you may pre-draft
for future rounds.
-
Select a player or team from the list of available players or teams. If you're running Microsoft Internet Explorer, and you can't figure out how to have the first team or player not selected, some
help is available here.
-
Press the Make Selection button.
-
You will receive a confirmation on the next web page of the pick that you
just made.
-
If the owners following you in the draft have used the pre-draft
option, their picks will automatically be made for them.
-
All franchise owners who are registered to receive email will receive
a notification of your pick, as well as whose turn it is to pick next.
Also, any pre-draft picks that were made will be included in this email
message.
If your league is
set up to for live drafting in a chat room type environment, executing
following steps will put you into live draft mode.
-
From the league home page, select the Draft Option under the For Owners
heading.
-
Select the franchise you are drafting for.
-
Type in the franchise or commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- From the next page, press the Live Draft button.
- The next page will be divided up into three sections:
- The top section will indicate your league and franchise name.
- The middle section will list the most recent picks made in the draft, as
well as any messages people have posted during the draft.
- The bottom section allows you to make picks, and allows you to type
in messages that all people drafting will be able to read.
- To make a pick, select a player from the player list, or a team
from the team list, then press the Pick button.
- To post a message to everyone participating in the live draft, type
your message into the message box, and then press the Post Message
button. Your message can include HTML.
- When picks are made, the list of available players is not automatically
updated. You should periodically update your list of available players
by pressing the Update Lists button.
- If you need to step away from your computer for a little while during
a live draft, but don't want to hold up the draft while you're away, you
can use the pre-draft feature to make picks for you
while you're away.
If you're using myfantasyleague.com's "Live Draft" feature, but have multiple franchise
owners at one computer, here's one suggestion on how to make this work.
- Go to the Live Draft page for one owner.
- Open a new browser window. Depending on what version of what browser you're
running, this may be done via the "File" menu. There should be an option named
something like "New Window" or "New Browser Window". Go to the Live Draft page
for the next owner. Repeat this step for all owners that will be using this computer.
- To cycle between owner live draft pages, there is typically a menu item
named "Window" in your browser. Select the appropriate live draft window
for the owner that wants to draft, or post a message.
Pre-Drafting For Future Rounds
An on-line draft can be a very time consuming process. Thanks to some excellent
suggestions from a subscriber (thanks, Steve!), we have
implemented a pre-draft system. This pre-draft system allows
each franchise owner to select players for future rounds even if it is
not yet their turn to pick. Unlike a blind draft, this pre-draft system
is strictly voluntary, and leaves it up to the individual franchise owner
to decide what rounds they would like to pre-draft for, and how many picks
they would like to make in each round. Best of all, no other franchise
owner can find out the pre-draft picks you have made.
To pre-draft, follow these steps:
-
From the league home page, select the Draft Option under the For Owners
heading.
-
Select the franchise you are pre-drafting for.
-
Type in the franchise or commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
-
If it's your turn to pick, you will see a message indicating that, and
you may draft normally. Otherwise, you will see a
message indicating that you may pre-draft for future rounds.
-
Select several players and team from the list of available players
or teams. The more you pick, the better chance you will have of actually
getting one of them. If you're having a hard time figuring out
how to select multiple players from the pre-draft list, the FAQ will tell you how. If you're running Microsoft Internet Explorer, and you can't figure out how to have the first team or player not selected, some help is available here.
-
Select the round that you are pre-drafting for.
-
Press the Make Selection button.
-
From the next web page, you will see a list of your pre-draft picks, and
a column titled Order. Prioritize your picks by having the number 1 in
the Order column next to your first preference, 2 next to your second preference,
and so on.
-
Press the Submit Pre-Draft button.
-
You will receive a confirmation on the next web page of the pre-draft picks
that you just made.
-
Once the person in front of you has picked (or their pre-draft pick has
been made for them), your highest priority available pick will be made
for you, and everyone in your league will receive an email confirmation
of this.
If you later change your mind and decide to remove your pre-draft picks
for a certain round (before drafting for that round, of course!), you
can follow all of the steps above, except don't select any players
or teams from the list of available players and teams. This will
make myfantasyleague.com forget your pre-draft picks for that round.
Auctioning Players
Performing Waivers
Waivers are a means of picking up "free-agent" players or teams, in exchange
for dropping players and teams off your rosters. If during
league setup your commissioner specified
that waivers are done First Come, First Served, follow these steps:
- From the league home page, select the Waivers Option under the
For Owners heading.
- Select the franchise you are doing waivers for.
- Type in the franchise or commissioner password.
- Press the Go! button.
- In the section titled Select Players/Teams To Drop, select the players
and teams that you are dropping from your roster.
- Press the Perform Waivers button.
- On the next web page, you will receive a confirmation of your waiver moves.
- All franchise owners in your league who have registered to receive email
will automatically get a message indicating the move made.
- The transactions report will be updated to
include this waiver move.
If during league setup your commissioner specified
that waivers have a weekly deadline, follow these steps:
- From the league home page, select the Waivers Option under the
For Owners heading.
- Select the franchise you are doing waivers for.
- Type in the franchise or commissioner password.
- Press the Go! button.
- Select the Waiver Round that you would like to perform waivers for.
- Select the Waiver Week that you would like to perform waivers for.
- In the section titled Select Player/Team To Drop, select the one player
or team that you would like to drop from your roster for the selected round.
- In the section titled Select Players/Teams To Add select one or more
players or teams that you'd like to pick up in exchange for the player or
team you'd like to drop.
If you're having trouble figuring out how to select multiple players from
the free agent list, a little help is available
below. If you're running Microsoft Internet Explorer, and you can't figure out how to have the first team or player not selected, some help is available here.
- Press the Register Waivers button.
-
From the next web page, you will see a list of your waiver picks, and
a column titled Order. Prioritize your picks by having the number 1 in
the Order column next to your first preference, 2 next to your second preference,
and so on.
- Press the Register Waivers button.
- On the next web page, you will receive a confirmation of your selections.
- You may repeat steps 5 through 11 for other rounds if you would like
to make more than one waiver move for the week in question.
- Once the commissioner completes the process waivers
step, you (and all other franchise owners in your league who have
registered to receive email) will automatically get a message
indicating all waiver moves made, and the
transactions report will be updated to
include this waiver move.
Important Point! Using the commissioner password on
your league home page allows you to immediately add/drop any
player you wish, without going through the normal queueing of picks
described above. If you wish to act as an owner, and queue up your picks,
use your franchise password on the league home page rather than the commissioner
password.
Posting/Reading From The Message Board
The league message board allows for each franchise owner to post multiple
messages, and to reply to other messages.
-
From the league home page, select the Message Board Option under the For Commissioners
heading.
-
Select your franchise.
-
Type in the franchise or commissioner password.
-
Press the Go! button.
- Read other franchise messages, or,
- Post a new message. You may include HTML in your message.
- Press the Post Message button.
- You will receive a confirmation of your new message
on the next screen.
Posting/Reading From The Bulletin Board
Unlike the Message Board described above, the Bulletin Board allows
each franchise owner to post only one message.
-
From the league home page, select the Bulletin Board Option under the For Commissioners
heading.
-

Submitting Weekly Lineups
Each week, a franchise owner should have a starting lineup. Starting lineups
can be submitted by:
-
From the league home page, select the Submit Lineups Option under
the For Owners heading.
-
Select the franchises that you would like to submit lineups for. If submitting

-
Select the week of the NFL season that you are submitting lineups for.
Franchise owners may only submit lineups for a given week up until
kickoff of the first game that week. Commissioners may submit lineups
at any time. Note: Kickoff for a given week is determined by
the time our Web server computer thinks it is, not by the time that
you or your computer thinks it is. To be safe, you should never wait
until just five minutes or so before kickoff to submit lineups.
-
Select the appropriate number of starters for each category of starters.
-
Press the Submit Lineups button.
-
On the next web page, you will receive a confirmation of your starting
lineup for that week.
myfantasyleague.com will not allow a franchise owner to trade or waiver a player that
is on their starting lineup for the upcoming week.
If you have already submitted a lineup for a week, but then later decide to
trade or waiver one of your players on your starting lineup, you need to
"un-submit" your starting lineup for that week. To do that, follow the steps
above, but make sure to select no players and teams to start. You will
then get confirmation of your lineup being "un-submitted".
If you need to make lineup
changes after kickoff of a given week, you'll need to email those changes
to your league commissioner, as he is the only person who may use myfantasyleague.com to
submit lineups after kickoff of a given week.
Setting Up Franchises
Once the commissioner completed the league setup
step, individual franchises can be set up. Initially, franchises must
be set up by the commissioner. Once the franchise has been set up by the
commissioner, franchise owners can modify their own franchise as long
as the commissioner has given them their franchise password. Or, they
can use the password reminder function if their
commissioner has previously set up their franchise with their email address.
Important note: All information entered on the franchise setup
page is viewable by people in your league. Specifically, owner email addresses, phone/fax numbers,
and other owner contact information is
only displayed to people who have checked the "remember my password" option on the league home page.
Keep this in mind if your privacy is important
to you.
Setting up
a franchise involves setting the following attributes:
-
Franchise Name - each franchise must have a name. Note: If
you change your franchise name in the middle of the season, you
should probably let the other owners in your league know you have done
so!
- Owner Name - enter the owner's name here.
-
Franchise Password - If franchise owners in your league have access
to myfantasyleague.com, you can assign them a password. If they wish, they can later
change their password. Make sure that the password conforms to some basic
password guidelines
-
Confirm Password - You must type in the franchise password again
for confirmation purposes.
- Email Address: - In order for myfantasyleague.com to automatically send
email to a franchise owner, their email address must be entered. If
a franchise owner has two or more email addresses that they would like
to have reports sent to (for example, work and home), or a franchise
has two or more co-owners, you can enter multiple
email address with a comma separating each one.
- Daytime Phone: you may enter the owner's daytime phone here.
- Evening Phone: you may enter the owner's evening phone here.
- Fax: you may enter the owner's fax number here.
-
Franchise Home Page URL - If the franchise owner has a web page
on another web server that they would like to have their franchise name
hyperlinked to, enter that URL here. You must include the entire
URL (ex. http://www.domain.com/~username/page.html)
-
Franchise Logo URL - If the franchise has their own logo, enter
the URL for that logo here. The logo must be in JPEG or GIF format. You
must include the entire URL (ex. http://www.domain.com/~username/logo.gif).
-
Upload Logo File -
If you have a franchise logo, but don't have a web server to store it on, you
can upload the logo to our server using this option. To upload the
logo, follow these steps:
- Create the logo, and save it in GIF or JPEG format. The logo must
be less than 30 kilobytes in size to be uploaded.
- Press the Browse... button to the right of the "Upload
Logo File" type-in box. If you do not see the Browse... button,
that means you are running a web browser incapable of uploading
a logo file. You should consider upgrading to a newer browser that
supports file uploading.
- Find the logo on your hard drive.
- Press the OK or Open button once you've located the file.
- This will upload your logo to our web server.
-
Send Email As - If the franchise owner has their email address registered
with myfantasyleague.com, they can choose to receive automatically generated email messages
any time a draft pick, trade,
waiver or injured reserve move occurs,
as well as when weekly results
are calculated by the league commissioner. Email options include:
-
Don't Send Email - If you would not like to receive email notifications,
select this option. If your league conducts its draft on-line, lots of
email messages will be sent during the draft. If you don't want to be inundated,
you might want to consider selecting this option during the draft, and
later coming back and selecting one of the following two options during
the regular season. Remember, unless you check the web page often
to see if it's your turn to draft you could annoy a lot of your fellow
owners by holding up the draft.
-
Plain Text - If your email program does not interpret HTML, you
should select this option. If you're not sure if your program can interpret
HTML or not, but still want to receive email updates, you should probably
check this option.
-
HTML - If you send and receive email using a program that can interpret
HTML, you should check this option. One program that definitely can interpret
HTML email messages is Netscape Navigator version 2.0 or later.
HTML email messages are really just web pages that are emailed to you,
so they look nicer than plain text email messages and offer lots of hyperlinks
back to the myfantasyleague.com site.
- Division - If the commissioner is performing franchise setup, and the
league has divisions, they will be given the opportunity to specify what division the franchise is in.
