MFL Tip
MFL League Page Appearance Options.
Here at MyFantasyLeague.com, we offer you a ton of appearance-related customization tools and options. We understand that at times it can be a bit overwhelming, but hopefully this MFL Tip will help you navigate these waters, and help you put together a really nice, clean-looking web page for your league-mates.
One of the most important things to remember with all things MFL is that we're constantly making upgrades to the site. Your For Commissioners > Commissioner News page details all of the upgrades for this off-season alone, but we'll highlight a few of the more important upgrades related to site appearance we've made over the years here. These tips are especially helpful for long-time customers, who might have just carried over appearance settings from year-to-year, without much thought on how quickly and easily they can improve their league page appearance by taking advantage of some new features.
- Skins - The Select A Skin page lists all 70+ skins we offer, but the important point here is we're always adding more skins. We've added seven so far this off-season (Social Network, MFL 2012, Stones, Orange Football, Red Football, Blue Outline and The Huddle 2012), with plans to add even more in the coming months. So, rather than worring about individual color elements on your league home page, just upgrade to one of our more modern-looking skins and there's a good chance your league-mates will appreciate the upgrade right away.
- Menus - If you've heard your league-mates tell you it's too hard to find commonly-used items on your league pages, be sure to check out the Menu Setup page. There, you'll find two options to help with this problem - "Display secondary horizontal menu?" and "Display secondary vertical menu?". Try turning one or both of those options on, and see if that helps owners in your league find more commonly-used items easier. Also, some really old-school leagues are still using our out-dated "Classic" or "Vertical" menus on that page - if you're one of those leagues, be sure to choose the "Horizontal" menu option on that page, as it will give your league a better overall appearance, too.
- Home Page Modules - With so many options on the site, we have a ton of home page modules to offer you - over 130 at last count! The Home Page Modules And Tabs page allows you to add and remove modules from your league home page, and organize modules as you see fit using tabs. With a little effort, you'll be able to re-arrange your league home page so all of the things that are important to you and your league-mates are easily available right on your league home page.
- Other Appearance-Related Options - If you're interested in more appearance-related items, we'd encourage you to check out all of the other options listed under the "Appearance Setup" heading on the For Commissioners > Setup page. There, you'll find a ton of options that will allow you to customize your league page appearance as you see fit.
So, with a literally a few mouse clicks, your commissioner can easily have a great-looking league web page here on MyFantasyLeague.com!
One important final note about league page appearance - don't forget, lots of times with web page appearance, less is more. So, before adding a ton of modules to your league home page, or an animated league logo, or custom coding to your site, you should ask yourself - does this really help me and my league-mates play fantasy football? Make sure you're adding things for the right reason, and not just turning an option on because it's available to you.
Sincerely,
The MyFantasyLeague.com Team
