Fantasy Football Kickoff!

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Kickoff is almost here…  Your draft is done, and now it’s time to submit your lineups and prepare for the first week of the season!  Enjoy the Thursday night game, and good luck with your fantasy football match up this week.  Depending on how your league is configured, you may be able to modify your starting lineup after tonight’s kickoff, but it’s always best to submit a full lineup before the first game of the week.

Hiding Starting Lineups

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

We’ve updated an  option on the “For Commissioners > Setup > Starting Lineups Setup” screen with some more flexibility for those fantasy football leagues that prefer to hide the starting lineups until after kickoff.  Previously, this was just a Yes/No option that could be turned on or off, and it would hide starters until kickoff of the first game of the week.  Now it gives you the following choices for hiding starting lineups:

  • Never hide starters.
  • Kickoff of the first game of the week.
  • Kickoff of the first Sunday game of the week.
  • Kickoff of the last game of the week.

This will provide more options for leagues that want be even more selective about how long the lineups are hidden from other owners.  To clarify, it is still an option that most leagues generally wouldn’t want to use, but for those commissioners that want to add a competitive wrinkle to their league, they now have more control.

Thursday Games

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

This is the first week of 6 in a row that will feature a Thursday night game in the NFL.  From a fantasy football perspective, you need to be aware of your league’s lineup and waiver rules to make sure you submit a valid starting lineup before your league’s weekly deadline.  So if you are the commissioner, be sure to remind your team owners to get their lineups in before kickoff if needed!

For more information on the commissioner settings that may affect your league with Thursday games, be sure to check the “Help > What’s New” screen in your league under the Commissioner News section.

One specific setting you may want to double check is on the “For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Weekly Lineup Setup” screen.  The option called “Are Partial Lineups Allowed?” should be set to “No” if you want to make sure that owners always submit a full lineup before kickoff on Thursday, just in case they forget to come back before Sunday to make adjustments.

FantasySharks Lineup Coach

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Kickoff is almost here!  Where did the summer go?  Now that your draft is complete, it’s time to set your starting lineup and go after that crucial first win of the season for your fantasy team.  If you’re looking for guidance and advice, we have just the thing for you…

Check out the FantasySharks.com Lineup Coach. It is available right from your Starting Lineup page.  Just click on the link at the top of that page and you’ll be taken to the lineup coach.   It uses our Open Developer’s API to fetch league information for your specific league, including the scoring rules and starting lineup requirements.  Then it combines that data with the weekly player stat projections from FantasySharks.com and ultimately makes recommendations about which player to start or bench this week.  Very cool stuff!  It also displays current injury information along with a short comment about each player.

Note that this feature is part of the “Fantasy Links” section of your league, so if you don’t see the link to the LineupCoach, be sure to ask your commissioner to turn that option on in the “For Commissioners > Setup > Menu Setup” screen (it is on by default).
