Congratulations!! - Fighting Fundamentalists has done it! Consider the irony:
- The New York Giants were the sixth (and last) seed from the NFC in the NFL Playoffs.
Fighting Fundamentalists was the eighth (and last) seed in the GOOFBALL Playoffs.
- The Giants' opponent was the unquestioned favorite, the undefeated New England Patriots.
Fighting Fundamentalists' opponent was the unquestioned favorite, the 14-3 Appalachian State.
- The New York Giants overcame these odds to win the NFL Championship by 3 points.
Fighting Fundamentalists overcame all odds to win the GOOFBALL Championship by 7 points.
Congratulations again go out to Fighting Fundamentalists for being the 2007-08 GOOFBALL Fantasy Football League Champion!
For those who are curious, here are a few interesting facts regarding the GOOFBALL Championship:
- For the twelfth straight year, there is a first-time GOOFBALL Champion (the league is only 12 years old).
- For the third year in a row, the team that has drafted last in the GOOFBALL Playoff draft has won the championship. In 2005-06, Ich Weiss Nicht (Justin) drafted eighth (of 8). Last year, Hail Mary (Dave) drafted sixth (of 6).
Maybe drafting first for the GOOFBALL Playoffs isn't such an advantage after all. In fact, the last time the team drafting first won the championship was in 2000-01, when Spirit of St. Louis (Tim) won it all. By the way, is anyone else just a little suspicious of the "101-degree fever" that allowed Jim to watch the Super Bowl from the very beginning? It just seems a little too convenient, doesn't it?
